Ashaway Aquatics Center

The Ashaway Aquatics Center offers additional water activities to supplement the waterfront program at each of the three camps. Ashaway is located on Yawgoog Pond between the Camp Three Point Waterfront and Camp Medicine Bow Waterfront. The Ashway staff are part of Camp Medicine Bow.

It is here that a camper can enjoy the fun of sailing on the pond or kayaking. The program center is host to the Schiller Sailing Center for small boat sailing excitement as well as the Yawgoog Fishing Center. In addition to the sailing fleet are kayaks. Ashaway is home to the Charlie Brown, Yawgoog's motorboat. Charlie and the Ashaway staff respond if there is an incident on the pond, such as a capsized boat.

The Ashaway Aquatics Center offers two merit badges: Small Boat Sailing and Fishing. Ashaway also lends out fishing poles for the week. Orientations are provided throughout the day for the casual sailor or kayaker. Ashaway hosts the weekly Small Boat Sailing Regatta and Fishing Derby, the winners are honored at the Sunday Dress Parade.

Rumor has it that the motorboat and small sailing boats were named after Peanuts characters in honor of Charles Schultz for his generous contribution.
